Dulcie’s journey into Community Services is a powerful example of determination, resilience, and the impact of strong support. With a clear dream of building a career helping others, she enrolled in the Certificate III in Community Services through the Peak Compassion Program in Townsville, ready to take the first step toward her future.

Just nine weeks ago, Dulcie began her studies. Like many adult learners, the path wasn’t without challenges. By Week 3, personal circumstances began to weigh heavily, and she considered stepping away from the course. At that pivotal moment, encouragement from her daughter changed everything.

“Mum, you can do this. You’ve got this. You WILL finish this course.”

Those simple but powerful words reignited Dulcie’s motivation. With renewed determination, she committed to pushing through the obstacles in front of her.

Throughout the program, Dulcie has demonstrated remarkable resilience. She navigated both personal and academic challenges, including a broken finger that required surgery. Despite this setback, she remained dedicated to her studies, continuing to attend and stay focused on her goals. Beyond the classroom, she has also taken proactive steps to strengthen her employment prospects, working towards securing her driver’s licence to increase her opportunities in the sector.

Now, Dulcie is just two units away from completing her qualification — a significant milestone that reflects her perseverance and commitment. Her journey is not only about personal achievement, but also about creating a better future for her family and fulfilling her passion for supporting children and families in need.

Dulcie’s story highlights the transformative power of training, encouragement, and self-belief. As she approaches the final stage of her qualification, she is one step closer to a rewarding career in Community Services, where her compassion, strength, and lived experience will make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
