Margaret, 60 years young and a well respected Indigenous community member, initially hesitated to enrol in the Standing Strong Security Course. With encouragement from her friends and family, she embraced the challenge and completed the program, discovering a newfound confidence in her abilities. Her determination led to a temporary role with SecureCorp, assisting with the Electoral Roll Commission, where her calm presence and cultural insight made an immediate impact.

Margaret’s journey didn’t stop there. She has since secured a position as a Protective Services Officer in the Queensland courts, where she brings professionalism and a deep understanding of community needs. Her role fosters trust and connection, demonstrating the transformative power of programs like Standing Strong in empowering Indigenous women to break barriers, regardless of age. Margaret’s story is a testament to how such initiatives provide opportunities for personal growth and meaningful contributions to society, proving that age and gender is no barrier to success.
