The Ipswich Community Justice Group focuses on early support, strong community connections and culturally informed responses that help reduce further contact with the justice system and support better outcomes for individuals and families.

The Ipswich Community Justice Group supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are involved in the justice system.

The Ipswich Community Justice Group supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are involved in the justice system.
The group is made up of Elders and respected community members who bring strong cultural knowledge, lived experience and long‑standing relationships with local courts and services.
We work alongside courts, justice agencies and community organisations to help people feel supported, understood and connected throughout the legal process.
We offer:
- Support at Ipswich Murri Court
- Additional support at Ipswich Magistrates Court
- Guidance and advocacy from Elders and community representatives
- Help understanding court processes and expectations
- Culturally informed court submissions
- Referrals to local services such as housing, health, counselling and employment
- Men’s and Women’s Yarning Circles and cultural support
We support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Ipswich region who are:
- Attending court
- Involved in Murri Court
- Engaging with the Magistrates Court
- On bail, in custody, or returning to the community
- Looking for culturally safe support alongside the justice process
